Martin Hill Ortiz

Martin Hill?

I am half-Latino. I currently reside in Puerto Rico. In Puerto Rico one's name formally honors both the father and mother; in this case, my father Milford Hill and my mother (maiden name) Adelina Ortiz. My name on official documents here is Martin Hill Ortiz and I often use that as my pen name.

I am a professor of Pharmacology at the Ponce School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Ponce, Puerto Rico where I live with my wife and seven year old son.

I have been writing seriously for over twenty years now. Awards and honors I have received include:

South Florida Writer's Association Poetry Award, 2nd place.
South Florida Writer's Association Poetry Award, 3rd place.
National Association of State Poetry Contests, 2nd place.
South Florida Writer's Association First Novel Award
Miami Representative to National Poetry Slam
Representative to the Los Angeles Poetry Festival
Science Fiction Writer's Association Poetry Contest, honorable mention.
Bewildering Stories, best story.
